The island of Korcula

Korcula "Black Corfu" (after the dark pine forests), is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea off the coast of South Dalmatia.

The island belongs to the Croatian Dubrovnik-Neretva County, has an area of 279.03 km2 (length 46.8 km, width 5.3-7.8 km) and about 17.000 inhabitants.
The highest elevations are the small mountains Klupca with 568 m and Kom with 510 m.
The Pelješki Channel between Korčula and the Pelješac peninsula is about two kilometers wide.
